Gut health and food intolerance
Significant research now supports the importance of gut health as a contributor to overall health, well-being, and happiness. Three things are key to a healthy gut: intestinal bacteria, a strong immune system, and a strong gut lining. Our in-depth knowledge of the low FODMAP diet, based on Monash University principles, is used to improve gut health.
We can help with the following gut related symptoms: Diarrhoea Constipation Bloating Abdominal discomfort Reflux Nausea and vomiting We also provide nutrition-related counselling for: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Coeliac Disease Lactose Intolerance Fructose or Polyol Malabsorption Pancreatic Conditions |
Bariatric nutrition
If you’re considering bariatric surgery, it’s important to have a thorough understanding of how and why you eat. It’s also important to understand the long-term nutrition commitment required after your surgery for it to be a success.
We can provide pre and post-surgery support, not only during the early stages of bariatric surgery, but also to help you make the right lifelong nutrition decisions including support for weight regain and gut health. I also help women who have had bariatric surgery optimise their diet before conception, during pregnancy and breastfeeding so they can give their baby the healthiest start in life. We welcome all bariatric clients. |
Disordered eating
We use a holistic approach when it comes to disordered eating. This includes mindful eating techniques to develop self-compassion and the development of healthy approaches to eating with limited restrictions on food. Through this, we aim to gain both health and happiness for our patients, so that they can enjoy food and life to the fullest.
Elize is an Australian Centre for Eating Disorders (ACFED) approved practitioner.
